Property Buying
Checklist: Significant Stages of Your Home-buying
Process |
- Interview and hire a qualified Buyer's Agent.
- Determine your
buying range and obtain loan Pre-Approvals from mortgage lenders.
- Decide what
criteria are most important in a home (location,
number of bedrooms/bathrooms, etc.).
- View and evaluate
properties, then decide whether or not to make an
Offer to Purchase.
- Discuss the true
value of the property, negotiation strategies,
amount of earnest money to be deposited and
presentation of the Offer to Purchase.
- Hire a qualified
real estate attorney to protect your legal
interests, review and approve the purchase offer.
- Once an offer is
accepted, coordinate desired inspections of the
premises (home, water, septic, and so on.)
- Renegotiate
undisclosed items found during the Inspections.
- Obtain Home
Owner’s Insurance Policy.
- Obtain a Mortgage
Commitment Letter from the Lender.
- Final "walk
through" of the premises before the closing.
